Its Hard, But I Can
Testimony
by Cheryl Fisher White
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians 4:13 (KJV) As a single parent of five children, I began focusing on the fact that this journey was going to be hard. Frustrations, illnesses, financial concerns, parenting, transportation problems, stress and emotional highs and lows consumed my daily thoughts. There were so many issues I had to face on a daily basis that I really didn’t know which way I should turn. It was just plain hard.
My financial income was below my economic expenses. It was hard to imagine how in the world the bills could be paid. My health was experiencing conditions that caused me to worry about the existence of my future. My life felt frustrated most of the time and stressful the rest of the time. The children were experiencing growing pains. They were growing in many ways and I was in pain. They outgrew the amount of food I was able to provide. Their clothes seemed to shrink overnight. There were so many questions I could not answer and decisions I could not make. It was aggravating trying to make the best decisions for each situation that arose every day. The simple truth is it was hard. Every day I studied my situation in hopes of finding a way out. There was no extra money anywhere. I found myself paying just enough of last month’s bills to keep the lights on, and buying cheap foods to fill my children’s stomach. Oodles of Noodles were on the menu at least three times a week. I started asking God,“why amI suffering so much?” |

I allowed the disappointments I was facing to take over my thoughts. The struggles were so overwhelming that I began thinking it would be better for me to not even be alive. I began believing that someone else could provide for my children better than I could. I tried to take my life. Thank God the attempt was unsuccessful. God sent two angels to talk me through the process of looking at hope and not defeat.
Although I was going to church and hearing the word, it finally hit me one day. I was focusing on the problem, not the problem solver. I started to change my way of thinking and my way of handling each problem. Phillippians 4:13 says, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. I began to say that scripture over and over until I really believed it.
The first thing that happened was I began to feel the weight lift from me and I starting allowing the scriptures to saturate my daily thoughts no matter what happened. 1 Peter 5:7,“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”Philippians 4:6,“Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”Ephesians 6:18,“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.” Matthew 7:7, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”
After studying these scriptures and many more, Philippians 4:13 was in my daily talk and thoughts. I had to change my focus.

The blessings started happening. I was able to get a brand new car. Overtime was available. The stress in my life was diminishing and that resulted in me taking less medicine. I found myself not dealing with so many medical issues. My children were very understanding even though that did not stop some of the behavior problems. Even though it was hard to catch up, the bills were getting paid. No longer was my electric being shut off because they placed me on a budget I could afford. The food provision was getting better. We only had Oodles of Noodles once a week. The availability to purchase clothes was open.
Through much prayer and the support of others I now live first knowing that Philippians 4:13 is real because situations may be hard but “I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me.”
Since the Lord gave me strength, I am now driving my fourth brand new car and I purchased my own home. The Lord blessed me to be the author of 13 books. My most recent publication is “Deadline, Lord I Need You Now” which tells the full story of this testimony. I also published “It’s In the Stone” a 31-Day Devotional” which I have written messages of hope.

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
